Lynn Maro
H.O.P.E. Honoree 2024

Lynn Maro is the youngest of 7 children born in Youngstown, Ohio to Stephen and Mary Jane Maro. She is a 1985 graduate of Ursuline High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from YSU in 1988 with a bachelors degree in political science. In December 1990 she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Akron School Of Law.

After law school, Lynn joined the Akron law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs as an associate in the civil litigation division. From 1992 – 1996 Lynn worked at the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office and has been in private practice since 1994. She currently practices law with her husband, Attorney Jonathan K. Schoenike. Lynn’s practice includes civil and criminal litigation. She is a member of the Mahoning County Bar Association, served as chairman of the Campaign Ethics Committee from 1999-2023 and is currently on the Board of Trustees. In 2004 she received the distinguish service award from the Bar Association and in 2023 they honored her as Lawyer of the Year. 

Lynn and Jon have been married for 33 years.  They are members of St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown. They have 2 daughters, Katelyn Schoenike, a teacher at the Trevor Day School in Manhattan, New York; and Audrey Schoenike, an associate attorney with White and Williams in its Boston office.
