A Gift of Technology
A 10-minute break with an iPad with apps for children with Autism helped calm a seventh grade student who was having difficulty in school. The apps help students practice numbers and letters and identify feelings, and allow nonverbal students to communicate their ideas for the first time.
The break helped the student return to class and focus on his studies. He is one of 48 elementary and middle school students who have benefitted from the purchase of two such iPads at a school system for students on the autism spectrum. The purchase was made possible by a grant from The Hope Foundation.
