Once upon a time, a young girl named Mary Anne discovered the magic of reading. When she grew up, her love of books inspired her to pursue a Master of Library Science degree at Clarion University. Mary Anne began her career as a Children’s Librarian at Ritter Public Library in Vermilion and for the past 34 years has served as Hubbard Public Library’s Youth Services supervisor, sharing the wonder of children’s books with generations of readers.

At Hubbard Public Library, Mary Anne’s creative vision led to the transformation of the Children’s Room from a dark basement to an inviting space featuring natural lighting, an indoor gazebo, a dedicated room for children’s programs and an outdoor Sensory Garden. In 2020, a Toy Lending Library was established adjacent to the Children’s Room, providing hands-on learning resources for families and educators. The engaging literacy-based programs offered at the library delight the children and caregivers in attendance and collaborative programs with a local assisted living facility enrich the lives of both young and old. Mary Anne and her husband, Anthony, live in West Middlesex with their dog, Simon.
