Dr. Hrina-Medvec was the recipient of the 2018 H.O.P.E Honoree for Lifetime Achievement from the Foundation.

Born and raised in Struthers, she is a graduate of Struthers High School and YSU where she earned her undergraduate degree in biology.  She went on to obtain her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, and currently serves as therapy director at Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice Greater Youngstown.

A certified clinical instructor and guest speaker for YSU’s physical therapy doctoral program, she is very passionate about fundraising for Ohio Living Hospice and has initiated the 10-4-10 Movement, whose mission is to raise $10,000, which signifies the 10 years Ohio Living Hospice Greater Youngstown has been providing care.

She was captain of Ohio Living’s 2015 Relay for Life Team, which raised nearly $5,000.   Along with her co-worker, Ryan Scragg, they also raised more than $1,500 for Ohio Living’s “Make it Happen Program“ by running the Cleveland half marathon in 2016.

She is founder & director of The Boo Squad, a volunteer group for kids aged 3-10 whose mission is to actively volunteer and educate kids about being compassionate and understanding of others with differences.

The group chooses an environment or population that the children may not typically be exposed to or familiar with, teaching them that it’s alright to be accepting of while working with others that are different.

They have volunteered or donated time and money to a myriad of organizations around the community over the years.

A 2017 honoree of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals 25 Under 35 Award, she is married to her high school sweetheart, Matt Medvec and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Madison & Caroline.

She credits her daughters as her inspiration for creating The Boo Squad.
