Softball Charity Event set this Summer

The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley & Valley Home Health Care will present the Softball Game of Hope (SGOH); a community leader/celebrity charity softball game that benefits and supports chronically/terminally ill children in the Valley so that they may have the experiences generally afforded healthy children.

The event, in conjunction with television stations 27 First News/FOX Youngstown & WYTV-MyYTV, and radio stations 93.3 "The Wolf;" 1390 WNIO & News Radio 570 WKBN, will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2010 inside Eastwood Field (Niles, OH).

Also sponsored by UAW Local 1112 & 1714 from GM-Lordstown, Buffalo Wild Wings and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, first pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. Following the charity event, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (the Cleveland Indians' Class A, Short Season affiliate) will play the Aberdeen IronBirds (a Baltimore Orioles affiliate) at 7:05 p.m.

Teams are comprised of local leaders and community volunteers from the Valley who will square off against each other in a friendly game of softball, with the draft of the two teams on Monday, July 19 @ 5:30 inside Buffalo Wild Wings in Niles, Ohio. Tickets are $5 in advance at www.hopemv.org or $7 at the door. Children 12 and under eat free (slice of pizza, chips and a soft drink) and donations are currently being accepted!

The mission of the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley's is the furtherance of charitable and financial support and volunteer services to and for chronically and/or terminally ill children on a local and regional level. More on who's playing and other info can be found at www.hopemv.org.
